Your team

Within the Network Management Directorate , the "Infrastructure" Division manages the European infrastructure deployment projects and programmes and aims at making the SES digital sky a reality. It develops, organises and provides European common services including network support services, aeronautical information services and the radio frequency function. This traineeship will take place in the Information & Cyber (NMD/INF/IAC) Unit.

Description of your team’s activities

We are a team of different profiles where everybody is valued for their input and work. We offer common services to our aviation stakeholders, such as providing harmonised aeronautical data (the EAD service), secure & reliable IP network connectivity (the PENS service).  Additionally work is ongoing to setup new common services, which add value to the aviation community.

Concretely, this is what you will be doing:

  • Assist in maintaining business plans for new services and their roadmaps
  • Assist in drafting call-for-tender specifications for contractors and services
  • Assist in drafting memos to procurement department requesting contract changes
  • Participate in meetings with stakeholders (both internal and external)
  • Carry out any other tasks in line with the main purpose of the Unit

This traineeship position brings together both Air-Traffic management, IT, business administration and financial skills.


From 9 to 12 months.

Your profile

  • Completed university studies of minimum 3 years in a relevant domain (Minimum Bachelor’s degree in IT engineering, Business Administration, Law) A Master’s degree in a relevant area would be considered an asset;
  • Basic understanding of outsourced services, their KPIs and supplier contracts;
  • Basic understanding of business plans and roadmaps;
  • Excellent drafting skills in English (e.g. writing memos, specifications & emails), minimum C1.
  • Excellent MS-Word & MS-PowerPoint skills and basic MS-Excel skills;
  • Excellent communications and inter-personal skills;
  • Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment;
  • Professional conduct in line with the corporate behaviours of the Agency, i.e. result-driven, readiness to change, customer focus, integrity and team-player approach;
  • The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular job, thorough knowledge of English is required, minimum level C1 spoken and level C1 written;

  • A flat-rate allowance of €900 per month as a contribution towards living expenses will be granted.
  • Reimbursement of travel expenses to take up appointment and leave may be covered by means of a lump sum.
