Your team

Within the ECAC Secretariat, we support the work of the 44 Member States of the European Civil Aviation Conference.  The ECAC Secretariat is an independent organisation, with an agreement with EUROCONTROL for the provisions of administrative services, which is why this traineeship opportunity is within the framework of EUROCONTROL’s scheme.

The European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) was founded in 1955 as an intergovernmental organisation. ECAC seeks to harmonise civil aviation policies and practices amongst its Member States and, at the same time, promote understanding on policy matters between its Member States and other parts of the world. Its mission is the promotion of the continued development of a safe, efficient, and sustainable European air transport system.

ECAC works closely and cooperatively with other regional organisations and individual Partner States on a range of civil aviation issues of common interest, including safety, security, facilitation, and the environment. ECAC also conducts, at regular intervals, international conferences, workshops, seminars, and training events.

ECAC's long-established expertise in aviation matters, pan-European membership and close liaison with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) enable it to serve as a unique European forum for discussion of every major civil aviation topic. It enjoys active cooperation with its sister regional organisations ACAO, AFCAC and LACAC through Memoranda of Understanding, and with the European Commission and EUROCONTROL. It has particularly valuable links with industry and organisations representing aspects of aviation.

Your role

The traineeship will provide the trainee with the opportunity to become familiar with ECAC’s activities and the working methods of a civil aviation regional organisation, to put into practice the knowledge acquired during the traineeship, to gain new knowledge and skills, and be introduced to the work environment, it duties and its opportunities.

The traineeship offers:

  • Real-life tasks and responsibilities;
  • A chance to apply and improve your knowledge and skills with regular feedback;
  • The opportunity to expand your professional network through interaction with a wide range of European experts;
  • A diverse and inclusive international environment.

In this traineeship, you would be:

  • Contributing to the ECAC Secretariat's support to ECAC Member States and their officials;
  • Supporting the work of ECAC expert groups in providing advice, producing guidance on technical matters, and the other activities of the groups, across a range of aviation domains;
  • Gathering information to support ECAC's work and presenting it in a form accessible to experts and non-experts alike;
  • Other tasks to be determined according to the skills and needs of the trainee and the work priorities of the organisation.

The precise nature of the tasks and the balance of activity across ECAC’s various aviation domains (environment, facilitation, economics etc.) will be determined by the needs of the organisation and the knowledge and areas of interests of the trainee.
