Your team

Within the Network Management Directorate , the Infrastructure Division manages the European infrastructure deployment projects and programmes and aims at making the SES digital sky a reality. It develops, organises and provides European common services including network support services, aeronautical information services and the radio frequency function. Within the CNS infrastructure unit, the Navigation team is working on developing GNSS monitoring capabilities to help stakeholders deal with unforeseen events that may impact their ATM operations.

MAIN LEARNING OBJECTIVES & TASKS

Concretely, this is what you will be doing:

  • Collect and analyse information on GNSS (Global Satellite Navigation Systems) events (jamming, spoofing, ionosphere scintillation …) coming from on-board systems (e.g. ADS-B data), pilot reports (EVAIR), industry testing, States, GNSS service providers etc.
  • Use the collected CNS data to assess the impact of GNSS interference on operations and support studies related to interference sources’ geolocation and APNT (Alternative Positioning Navigation and Timing)
  • Propose, design, and develop new techniques improving the tools performances using state-of-the-art methods
  • Contribute to the development of software tools supporting GNSS risk assessment including requirements specification, design, development, integration, testing, V&V, documentation and user support
  • Conduct analyses and assist with the drafting of reports, technical documentation, briefings, etc. to support the dissemination of relevant findings across stakeholders (ANSPs, CAA, Manufacturers, …)

Your profile

The listed qualifications and skills are desirable. Candidates partially compliant or having limited knowledge in some fields are also invited to apply.

We would love to hear from you if you have the following profile:

  • Completed university studies of minimum 3 years in a relevant domain (e.g. Aeronautical Engineering, CNS Systems, Air Navigation System Engineering, GNSS …).
  • Technical drafting skills
  • Analytical thinking: Analyses information and identifies relationships
  • Creativity and Innovation: Apply new approaches
  • Knowledge in the following areas would be an advantage:
    • Modelling and simulation tools such as Python;
    • CNS systems, especially GNSS and ADS-B;
    • Data analysis and/or Machine-learning-techniques;
    • Software development
    • Performance Based Navigation (PBN);
  • Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment.
  • Professional conduct in line with the corporate behaviours of the Agency, i.e. result-driven, readiness to change, customer focus, integrity and team-player approach.
  • The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular job, thorough knowledge of English is required.

  • A flat-rate allowance of €900 per month as a contribution towards living expenses will be granted.
  • Reimbursement of travel expenses to take up appointment and leave may be covered by means of a lump sum.
