Your team

Within the Office of the Director General, the Internal Audit offers an impartial and independent appraisal, along with a consultancy function for the Agency. IA analyses, assesses, and recommends to the Agency's management improvements to the system of internal controls established to support the Agency's objectives. Furthermore, it enhances risk management effectiveness by evaluating associated risks in the Agency's governance, operations, and information systems.

The traineeship with EUROCONTROL's Internal Audit Unit offers a unique opportunity to engage in key audit activities, providing valuable insights into diverse business processes. As trainee, you will actively contribute to the Internal Audit mission, enhancing your understanding of the Agency’s operations and the critical role of internal auditing in improving agency functions. This hands-on experience provides practical knowledge in a dynamic, international environment.

MAIN LEARNING OBJECTIVES & TASKS

Concretely, this is what you will be doing:

  • Assisting in research and analysis throughout audit planning and execution.
  • Actively participating in interviews and providing support in audit testing under the lead auditor's guidance.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement and contributing to the formulation of audit observations and recommendations.
  • Summarising results in well-structured and substantiated workpapers, and aiding in the creation of written outputs (reports, presentations).
  • Contributing to various other internal audit activities, including the follow-up of action plans, and participating in IA's own improvement initiatives.

DESIRED DURATION

6 months with the possibility of extension to up to 12 months.

Your profile

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a 3-year post-secondary programme, with applicants from diverse backgrounds such as finance, business, public administration, IT, or aviation-related fields encouraged to apply;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with an emphasis on attention to detail;
  • Motivation to learn and develop skills, adapting to new concepts and challenges;
  • Maturity, proactivity, and a willingness to take initiative while ensuring the delivery of quality work;
  • Effective interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration with professionals at all levels within the organisation;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment;
  • Professional conduct in line with the corporate behaviours of the Agency, i.e. result-driven, readiness to change, customer focus, integrity and team-player approach;
  • The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular job, thorough knowledge of English is required.

Eligibility Criteria

  • You are a national of one of the EUROCONTROL or ECAC Member States;
  • You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree, and you are about to graduate or have recently graduated. If you are a recent graduate, the traineeship should start within 12 months of obtaining your latest degree;
  • You must be at least 18 years of age on the first day of your traineeship;
  • You must be unemployed at the start date of your traineeship at EUROCONTROL;
  • The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For a traineeship, you must have an excellent command of English. A knowledge of French would be an asset.

  • A flat-rate allowance of €1350 per month as a contribution towards living expenses will be granted.
